An efficient synthesis of imidazolinium salts using vinyl sulfonium salts.
The synthesis of imidazolinium salts from the reaction of formamidines and (2-bromoethyl)diphenylsulfonium triflate is described. A variety of symmetrical and unsymmetrical imidazolinium triflate salts were synthesized in high yield in short reaction times under mild conditions. Aromatic and aliphatic N-substituents work well. The reaction is proposed to proceed via generation of a vinyl sulfon...

The ligand-free trifluoromethylation of arylboronic acids with a [Ph(2)SCF(3)](+)[OTf](-)/Cu(0) system has been carefully investigated. Aryl-, alkenyl- and heteroarylboronic acids with a variety of functional groups were suitable substrates for this reaction. It is suggested that a CuCF(3) species is formed under the reaction conditions.

cement is an essential ingredient in the concrete buildings. for production of cement considerable amount of fossil fuel and electrical energy is consumed. on the other hand for generating one tone of portland cement, nearly one ton of carbon dioxide is released. it shows that 7 percent of the total released carbon dioxide in the world relates to the cement industry. considering ecological issu...
Racemization and epimerization.
In recent reports (I ) the term racemization is used inappropriately. It is stated in both reports that Lisoleucine racemizes to D-alloisoleucine. This reaction is epimerization, not racemization. Racemization of L-iSOleucine results in the formation of DLisoleucine. As stated in Eliel (2): "'racemization is the process of producing a racemic modification starting with one of the pure enantiome...
